LOS ANGELES, CA, August 26, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ — Preview in SEOUL (PIS) 2022, a response to the climate crisis and next pandemic involving environmentally-friendly and carbon-neutral materials and digital fusion technologies, opened at COEX A Hall in Seoul on August 24 (Wed).
311 domestic and foreign textile and fashion companies (524 booths) are participating in PIS for 3 days until the 26th (Fri) under the theme “Next Gate,” which opens a world of new standards and values. Sustainable green and digital innovation strategies in the endemic era are presented.
Hyosung TNC, Taekwang Industries and Daehan Chemicals, Lenzing Korea, Kyungbang, Daenong, Keonbaek, and Coreshtech are among the companies showcasing biodegradable materials made from recycled polyester and nylon yarn, organic and recycled cotton, modal and Riocell fiber, and corn extraction raw materials (PLA).
Shinhan Industries, One Chang Materials, Woojoo Global, Sechang Trading, and Haewon Trading are among those exhibiting the latest world-class eco-friendly technology in waterproofing, quick drying, cooling and temperature, and high-functional fabrics.
A collection for vegan material buyers such as natural fiber wool, linen, and silk materials by Aztec Double UB, Whitetex, Baekyoon T&F, and Tada Trade, and artificial fur and leather materials by Duksung Inco, Namyang Industries, Sungshin R&A, Samwoon Trestec, and Kyungwon were also presented.
Ceylon, Soitex, SAB Korea, SL Hightap, and Giolite introduced environmentally-friendly subsidiary materials including buttons, zippers, seam sealing tapes, fasteners, labels, and recursive reflective sheets made of recycled and silicone materials.
The vision of “PIS 2022” to prioritize green and digital innovation can be seen through the “Next Gate Fashion Show” opening performance and the “Digital Fashion Hall,” where the future of the textile fashion industry can be experienced through 3D technology and the metaverse.
The “Next Gate Fashion Show” is a collaborative hybrid fashion show by D-Antidote designer Hwan-sung Park, Doucan designer Choong-hoon Choi, who pursue sustainable fashion, along with 15 companies: Shinjin-Tex, KayJune Company, BECO International, R&D Textile, SNT, and SFT Inc. The combination of digital 3D and real-life in the fashion show the importance and direction sustainability can take.
The “Digital Fashion Hall,” with main participants Clover Virtual Fashion and Adobe Korea along with companies Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Pixel Pool, showcases the future of the textile fashion industry. Visitors are provided the opportunity to directly experience 3D texturing, virtual simulation, augmented/extended reality technology, and metafashion applied in manufacturing and consumer markets.
The PIS, first held in the endemic era, raised expectations for recovery and exhibition performance of the textile fashion market with the number of overseas participating companies (94 booths from 70 foreign companies) and buyers more than doubling.
Large domestic fashion companies including Samsung C&T, LF, Elandmall, Kolon FNC, Shinsung Tongsang, Shinwon, and INTHEF, global vendors including SAE-A, Hansae, and Hansoll, and sports and outdoor brands including K2 Korea, Black Yak, Andar, and Descente Sports participated to see the global trend in materials. Other industries such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Hyundai Motor, SK Chemical, LX Hausys, GS Retail, and Hyundai Transys also made visits to develop convergence technologies and products within the textile and fashion industry.
Overseas influential buyers including global brands and general trading companies also made a visit. 120 big buyers interested in Korean materials such as American and European brands (Michael Kors, Missoni, Moorer, Helly Hansen, Levy Group) were invited, as well as Hong Kong’s Mast Global, Japan’s ITOCHU Corp., and India’s Wildcraft.
Various seminar programs (a total of 12 sessions from August 24 – 25) on sustainable fashion and metaverse fashion cases including special seminars invited by global experts as well as side events including job fairs (August 25) are also held.
“Preview in SEOUL 2022” introduces premium items that encompass all streams of the textile fashion industry and, presenting the industry’s new direction, marks its 23rd anniversary this year. Hosted by the Korea Textile Industry Association (Chairman Sang-woon Lee), the exhibition showcases yarn, textiles, knitwear, subsidiary materials, textile machinery, clothing, and accessories, providing opportunities for new markets with the integration of digital technology.
