Please tell us a little more about who Portia Hoover is.
Portia: I am a woman of deep conviction. I am a hard worker. I’m a mother. I’m a wife. I’m walking the path that God has for me. I work extremely hard so that my children don’t have to go through what I went through coming up. I’m someone that gets great joy helping others succeed.
Why are you so adamant about helping others succeed?
Portia: OH MY GOSH! I know what it’s like to be without as adult, and I know too well, what’s it’s like growing up poor! I was eight years old going door to door selling the little fishing worms. My mother got sick when I was very little, and I didn’t have a father in the home. I have older siblings, but I felt alone in that situation in my life, even though they went through it also, I felt alone, so my hustle is very personal. I fight day after day & put my guard down so I can help parents create better situations for their kids can have more than what I had.
Tell us about your business.
Portia: My business is centered around helping everyday people become entrepreneurs, turn their creativity into coins & to help them get out of the box! It’s too much bread out here for people to struggle and I’m here to show and teach them that.
Where do you see yourself in the next 2 years? 5 years?
Portia: I see myself traveling, coaching & running several successful businesses on autopilot.
How do you handle disappointments?
Portia: I hear people say. ” life is all about disappointment” I don’t look at it as a disappointment, just lessons, and blessings, because God brought me through! I do my best to stay positive, and I’m very cautious about my thoughts and the ones I entertain. I don’t allow what is called disappointments to stop me. I grow from my lessons and continue to strive for new ones.
What is the single most profound lesson you have learned in business?
Portia: it’s sad but true! I have been done wrong by people that I have helped in business, everyone doesn’t use their moral compass & I have learned real quick how greedy and selfish people can be. Because I’m human, I have had that feeling like ” really”. However, I can’t allow that to stop me from doing what I’m passionate about, so I have learned that everyone doesn’t have the same mindset, goals, visions & integrity.
What advice would you give to that person who’s business is not doing so great and wants to give up?
Portia: Giving up is not an option! Get up and get it out the mud! Be creative, network with like-minded people in your field! Do all that and some, but don’t give up!
