Houston’s First 3D-Printed Neighbourhood Launches in Sunnyside, Setting New Standard for Sustainable Affordable Housing

Houston, Unknown, November 1, 2025 — Houston marked a milestone in sustainable development on 13 November 2025 as ground was broken on Zuri Gardens, the city’s first 3D-printed neighbourhood in Sunnyside. The pioneering project, a collaboration between HiveASMBLD, Cole Klein Builders, and the City of Houston, aims to deliver 80 energy-efficient homes using advanced 3D-printing technology and low-carbon cement alternatives.

Designed for households earning up to 120 percent of Houston’s median income, the community will offer homes averaging 1,360 square feet, with prices starting in the mid-$200,000s. Each residence will feature two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and flexible living spaces, reflecting a commitment to modern, resilient design.

Zuri Gardens also includes walking trails and a community park, promoting a vibrant neighbourhood atmosphere. Developers hope the project will serve as a scalable model for affordable, eco-friendly housing, demonstrating Houston’s leadership in innovative construction and equitable homeownership.
